Description
Radiant Ranunculus, The first thing one notices about Ranunculus (Asiaticus) is their luxurious, satiny petals, and their beautiful, varied colours which glow in the sun. Not only do they provide a magnificent display in gardens, they also last a long time as cut flowers in a vase and grow well in containers too.
The most common type is called the Tecolote strain are mostly double blooms and are available in bi-coloured picotee, gold, red, salmon, orange, white yellow and pastel shades. The shorter, less common varieties range from pale orange, pink, red, yellow and white double flowers.
These frost hardy perennials do well where winters are mild and the spring season is long and cool. Their claw-like bulbs determine the number of flowers that will be produced. Some will grow about 20 flowers. Others will produce a dozen or more. This image was created after I applied digital effects to my original photo.
