Description
Biomolecule interaction analysis. Technician using a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) machine to study the interaction of biomolecules (organic molecules produced by living organisms). SPR involves the excitation of surface plasmons by light. Surface plasmons are oscillating packets of subatomic particles that travel in a direction parallel to the boundary between a surface and an external medium, such as air or water. These oscillations are very sensitive to any change in the boundary, such as the adsorption of molecules to the surface. A typical use for this technology is the characterisation of antibodies.
